Self guided walking
This is a holiday for you walkers that are more experienced and don’t want to come under the umbrella of a guided walk. You will probably be a group of family or friends and feel that with our experience of local walks and conditions you will be able to enjoy planning and undertaking your own walking itinerary using “ The Country House Almunecar “ as your ideal walking base.
We can cater for larger groups. Please contact us for more details about accommodation and prices.
Group guided walks
We have 6 separate walks on 6 different days, picking you up from the house at 9am and finishing the days walk at about 5pm. The other day is “ airport or changeover “ day. Your evening meal is prepared and served at The Country House Almunecar at around 8pm.

We have a variety of walks for you from the high mountain paths of the Sierra de Chaparral to the coastal paths on the Costa Tropical. We also walk in the in the Sierras Almijara and Tejeda, beautiful and spectacular National Parks.
The walking is at a leisurely pace to enjoy the beautiful surroundings. We are always close to the wide variety of Andalucian flora and fauna ( link to photo gallery ), from the different river rock formations to the stunning mountain views.
The walks would normally start with a 20 - 40 minute drive from the accommodation, depending on the days walking area. We often pass through the white Andalucian villages ( Pueblos Blancos ) before the walks start and stop for a coffee and a wander around to take in the local flavours.
During the drives to the walks you will often see spectacular scenery as we often pass through the National Parks on our way to our starting destination.
Our ethos is to enjoy the wonderful scenery around us and take in the beautiful nature. If you join us on the group walks you will find the level is not to strenuous. We start the week off with an easy coastal walk to assess people’s fitness and capabilities. Then during the week gradually increase the length and difficulty of the walks. The idea is to enjoy the walks, with stops for photos and to admire the views, not to be on a forced march ! Hopefully at the end of the week you will feel a lot fitter and have renewed energy
