Self guided walking

This is a holiday for you walkers that are more experienced and don’t want to come under the umbrella of a guided walk. You will probably be a group of family or friends and feel that with our experience of local walks and conditions you will be able to enjoy planning and undertaking your own walking itinerary using “ The Country House Almunecar “ as your ideal walking base.

Group guided walks

We have 6 separate walks on 6 different days, picking you up from the house at 9am and finishing the days walk at about 5pm. The other day is “ airport or changeover “ day. Your evening meal is prepared and served at The Country House Almunecar at around 8pm.

We specialise in small-group walking tours (12 persons maximum), in the region known as the Costa Tropical and its interior. We are close to the beautiful coastal town of Almuñécar but our walks go as far afield as the Sierra Nevada mountains and the Alpujarra mountain area, close to Granada. Our ethos is not only to give you an enjoyable walking holiday in Southern Spain, but to introduce you to this unique part of Andalucia....La Costa Tropical...stretching from Nerja to Motril and taking in the coastal towns of La Herradura, Almuñécar and Salobreña.

The Costa Tropical has its own tropical micro-climate, one of the best in all Spain. It also has a rich history and culture dating back in time to the Phoenicians. The scenery is beautiful and varied, from coastal routes through to the mountains , lakes, rivers and waterfalls of the interior. It has many National Parks, which we explore, including a large stretch of coastline which is also a Marine Natural Reserve. Almuñécar and Salobreña have their own impressive castles that dominate the towns, both of which are now museums that one can visit.

The wildlife and especially the birdlife is second to none, from eagles through to bee-eaters. We especially recommend our walks to those who are interested in photography as many of the views are stunning. The flowers and flora are also spectacular and photogenic.
